Last week I shared with you about my word for 2018.
Have you downloaded your workbook yet??
I want to know what YOUR word is for 2019!
My husband has not been a fan of goals for a long time.
It would just get him overwhelmed and he would not accomplish them.
But this past year he surprised me: He started setting goals.
Every week.
His secret? He read this book:
Which talks about dreams vs. goals vs. steps, and how to secure lasting change.
My memory of one important concept: if it’s going to take you longer than 6 months to accomplish, it’s a dream. If it’s longer than 3 months, then it’s a goal. If it can be done this week it’s a step.
Or something like that. I did see a summary of the book here.
So Dustin was essentially setting STEPS each week. Items that were so easy you couldn’t NOT do them.
And with each tiptoe forward, he began to accomplish great things.
He even has his own thriving nerdy youtube channel, teaching his students in a fun way and making statistics interesting.
He has videos recorded for the next 6 weeks… so subscribe if you’re inclined. 😉
I could have used that help in college. I hated stats.
(Turns out there IS a reason he was so good at impersonations and stand-up comedy).
While I’ve only started the book, I have high hopes.
So what steps can YOU do this week that are so easy you can’t NOT do them?
(Think, put the giveaway box into the trunk. Done!)
I’m not talking about a Marie Kondo makeover, but if you need it, YOU CAN DO IT!
I did that years ago… didn’t finish the whole house, but got rid of LOTS of things… like 6 garbage bags full of my clothes!
You bring everything of that category out and hold each one to see if it sparks joy.
You thank the item you won’t be keeping, and pass it on.
It seemed funny until I thanked this velvet skirt I had never worn, but helped me feel beautiful when I bought it.
I actually got teary eyed! And I felt okay saying goodbye and letting it move on to another owner.
I’m feeling like I might try to do it this year.
I love that people are catching on! Her book:
It’s amazing.
Have you done it before??
Crash and burn, or peace and triumph??
Bre in our Women Create Weekly Club started it this week, and she found a physical release, and has gotten her whole family along in the game!
WHOLE family change!!
Along the same lines of lasting change, my friend Brooke Snow talked about “The Right Way To Achieve Your Goals” in her podcast recently and I loved it.
Click below to listen or go check her out in itunes.
While you don’t need a January 1st to get you started on change, reflection and vision is always a good thing to keep in mind.
I adore the process of choosing a word, and I hope you choose one to be your guide and anchor this year too!
Have an amazing week. Till next time!
